In December of 2008, The Mountain Goats toured Australia and New Zealand. The touring lineup was John Darnielle on vocals and guitar, Peter Hughes on bass, and Jon Wurster on drums. The tour was scheduled to make up for a previously announced Australian tour in April that was cancelled.
The opening act for Sydney, Newcastle, Hobart, and Brisbane was Baseball. The opening act for Auckland and Wellington was SideKickNick. The opening acts for Adelaide, Perth, and Melbourne were Hit the Jackpot, Schvendes, and Teeth and Tongue, respectively.
