LyricsEdit

The mailman brought the mail by
But the devil sent the rain
The mailman brought the mail by
But the devil sent the rain
And the rain tore through the streets
Tore down Los Flores Canyon again

If the leak was in the attic
Then we'd all be doomed for sure
If the leak was in the attic
Then we'd all be doomed for sure
There's a leak up in the attic
Honey, let's get out of here

Gotta keep moving, gotta keep moving
Blues falling down like hail
Gotta keep moving
Blues falling down like hail
The sunlight keeps to worrying me
There's a hellhound on my trail

Comments by John Darnielle About this SongEdit

  • "I'd been watching the news, and of course all the rich people, whenever it rains, their houses fall into the ocean...but there was a poor fellow named Mr. Casetino, who had a nursery, and the song is called Casetino's Nursery, and the weather anchorman started to go off-script, because I think he'd run out of questions to ask Mr. Casetino because it wasn't quite the crass age where we'd now ask the guy who's watching his nursery go underwater 'How does it feel, watching your nursery go under?' But the guy started to say, you know, well, is there any hope for the nursery to be saved? And he says, um, 'Well, if a leak was in the attic, no.' And I thought, 'There's my song'." -- 2009-11-14 - The Fillmore - San Francisco, CA
